STTI – Delta Kappa Chapter

The Honor Society for Nursing is Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI). The Delta Kappa Chapter is supported by The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), School of Nursing.

The Delta Kappa Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International is 104 of 469 chapters with more than 450,000 nurses inducted since the inception of STTI in 1922 at the Indiana University. Currently there are more than 130,000 active members in 86 countries; making this one of the largest professional nursing organizations.

Our Delta Kappa Chapter was founded in 1980 within the vision of the Daughters of Charity at the Hotel Dieu Hospital School of Nursing to become a baccalaureate nursing program at the University of Texas at El Paso. Legacy Presentation The Founding Dean of the College of Nursing (Eileen Jacobi, RN, EdD) believed in the vision of STTI for graduates of our nursing programs as leaders in professional nursing for the improvement of health of the residents of our community, region, state, national and international.

To date, more than 900 nurses were inducted in to the Delta Kappa Chapter.
