On Tuesday, Aug. 14, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., The University of Texas at El Paso will conduct an Active Shooter Emergency Exercise on campus. This is an EXERCISE.
It is important that the university police department and outside law enforcement agencies conduct joint training exercises to respond to these types of campus emergencies.
The exercise will be conducted at Memorial Triangle Lawn, in the Geological Sciences building and on Dormitory Road. Law enforcement and emergency response personnel and vehicles may be visible in these areas. The area surrounding Cotton Memorial Building may also be affected.
Please make an effort to avoid these areas on Aug. 14. If you have not already done so, please do not schedule activities in either the Geological Sciences Building or Cotton Memorial Building.
If you have any questions please contact the UTEP Police Department, Office of Emergency Operations, Mr. Ken Wimmer at 915-747-8543 or at krwimmer@utep.edu.
